The brief
A 120 m dam in the Swiss Alps needed new gates and penstocks to keep producing clean power for another 40 years. The work had to happen while the reservoir stayed in use and the valley below stayed safe.
What we supplied
We supplied 9,500 tonnes of rebar and high-strength plate for the new intake gates and the steel-lined pressure pipes that carry water down to the turbines.
How we delivered it
Steel travelled by rail through the Alps to the nearest freight yard, then up to the site on a dedicated road convoy each week. Deliveries were matched to short work windows when the reservoir level was low.
The result
The upgrade was finished in 2025 without a single day of unplanned shutdown. The dam now produces 8% more electricity from the same water, enough for about 12,000 more homes.
